New phase of shopping mall ready

Johor Premium Outlets celebrates its official opening as it completes its third phase of development.

JOHOR BARU: South-East Asia’s first premium outlet centre, Johor Premium Outlets, celebrated its official opening as it marks the completion of Phase 3 – the latest phase of its development.

First opened in December 2011, Johor Premium Outlets – a 50:50 joint venture between Genting Bhd’s subsidiary Genting Plantations Bhd and Simon Property Group – features 150 designer and brand name outlet stores boasting an impressive everyday savings of up to 65%.

It has also become a popular shopping destination for the fashion conscious and discerning shoppers from Malaysia, Singapore and beyond.

The official opening was graced by Sultan Johor Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.

Also present were Genting Group chairman and chief executive Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Simon Property Group Inc. chief operating officer – development, Mark Silvestri, as well as Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian.

Lim said, “Johor Premium Outlets has not only transformed the tourism industry in Johor by creating a new market segment in tourism, it has also contributed to the rapid development of Iskandar Malaysia.

“By welcoming in excess of 4.5 million visitors each year, Johor Premium Outlets has placed Johor on the region’s retail tourism map and generated substantial economic benefits for the local community.

“It has also created an unprecedented multiplier effect in revenue generation and job opportunities, thus helping the state of Johor build and preserve human resources, develop talent and enhance overall human capital value.”

Johor Premium Outlets’ current collection of designer and brand names include Aigner, Armani Outlet, Bally, Bath & Body Works, Black Barrett, Brooks Brothers Factory Store, CK Calvin Klein, Coach, DKNY, Ermenegildo Zegna Outlet Store, Furla, Godiva (opening soon), Gucci, Hugo Boss, Jimmy Choo, Kate Spade New York, Lacoste Outlet, Lululemon, Michael Kors, Nike Factory Store, Prada (opening soon), Polo Ralph Lauren, Salvatore Ferragamo Company Store, Swarovski, Swiss Watch Gallery, Tommy Hilfiger, Tory Burch, Tumi, Versace and Victoria’s Secret.
