THE year got off on a thrilling start for Faris Zikri Yusof, 27, as he emerged champion of the Kenny Rogers Roasters (KRR) OMG Fiesta contest.

Driving home a brand new Proton Persona 1.6 Premium CVT, Faris was both elated and surprised by his win.

“This is my first time winning a grand prize in a competition and I’m beyond ecstatic to have been selected as the winner of this challenge,” said the chemistry major at Universiti Malaya.

He looked forward to taking his new car for a spin and added he will be giving the car to his parents as a token of appreciation for their sacrifices.

The competition, which began in August 2018 required contestants to purchase any OMG meals at Kenny Rogers Roasters before answering two simple questions and filling in a slogan.

Held at Sunway Velocity Mall, the finale consisted of two stages. The first stage saw the 16 finalists try their luck in the “KRR Chicken Race” game which closely resembles a Russian roulette.

Participants rolled a dice, subsequently standing in their respective quadrants based on their chosen numbers. They proceeded to select their “golden eggs” and a lucky five advanced to the next round.

The top five finalists advancing to the next round competed in a game of “Chicken and Ladders”. Faris emerged victorious in the nail biting showdown.

The other participants walked away with a complimentary KRR card preloaded with credit worth RM200, courtesy of Kenny Rogers Roasters for their participation.

Proton marketing director Cheng Seng Fook said in a statement, “It was truly an honour for Proton to be a part of this campaign and we hope the winner will go on an adventure with their new Proton,”

Also present at the event was Berjaya Roasters (M) Sdn Bhd general manager Lee Siew Fei.
