A KTM commuter train plying between Butterworth and Padang Besar, Perlis, will now serve as a symbolic carriage to battle corruption.
The three-coach train is now bedecked with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) logo and carrying a message ‘Against Bribery, Building Dignity’ to remind the public to abhor corrupt practices.
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull said the train was chosen as it was among the busiest in the northern sector.
“I hope the message will be effectively delivered to a wide range of people.
“The train makes almost 20 trips daily between the destinations, and an average of 15,000 passengers take it daily.
“We believe the method will allow us to have a larger outreach.
“The wrapping will be put on until December next year, and we may include more trains if the response is good,” he said after the launch at Butterworth station on Friday.
The cabin of the train also has information on battling corruption and QR codes to scan and download the MACC Mobile app.
The application allows users to lodge reports and learn more about ways to battle corruption.
Also present at the ceremony were MACC deputy chief commissioner (prevention) Datuk Shamsun Baharin Mohd Jamil and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad chief executive officer Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin.
