KL City Plan 2020 finally gazetted

PETALING JAYA: The Kuala Lumpur City Plan (KLCP) 2020 was gazetted yesterday, according to an announcement on the Attorney-General Chambers' website.

A source from the Federal Territories Ministry said Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad would be making an official announcement on the matter in Parliament today.

“The KLCP 2020 plan will be available to the public for reference by Nov 14, at the Kuala Lumpur City Hall headquarters in Jalan Raja.

"Anyone interested can also buy a copy,” he said.

Work on KLCP 2020 draft started in 1998 and after much deliberation, was finalised in 2012. However, it was not gazetted by the Barisan Nasional government.

Khalid was quoted earlier as saying that the plan, decided in 2012, would be gazetted, despite infringements against it in many areas over the years.

He said the plan would be attached with an addendum on the developments that were contrary to the plan.

He also said the infringements in the current plan and new additions would be taken into consideration in the draft KLCP 2040, which would kick off next year and hopefully gazetted by 2020.
