Spicy noodles lead to surprise win

SHE never expected to win a car, but thanks to her love for instant noodles, that was precisely what happened to Nora Kamal who won a new Perodua Bezza as the grand prize sponsored by KMT Jaya Sdn Bhd, a trading company which specialises in importing popular Korean food.

The official prize-giving ceremony of the Nongshim Shin Ramyun “Win A Car & Prizes” contest was held at KMT Jaya’s new office in Shah Alam.

“I was truly surprised when I received the exciting news.

“I have always loved to eat Shin Ramyun because it tastes good and it’s halal-certified. Besides, its portion is bigger, and I can find it easily at any supermarket near my house,” said Nora.

Second prize winner Wong Kuan Seng said: “I never thought I'd be so lucky to win a motorcycle. The contest caught my eyes while I was grocery shopping, so I gave it a try.”

Wong won a Modenas KRISS MR1 motorcycle.

The contest, which was held between Nov 20, 2017 and Feb 28, 2018, garnered more than 5,000 submissions.

Forty-four participants were chosen randomly to win numerous prizes worth a total of RM80,000.

They included an LED TV, a microwave oven and a vacuum cleaner for weekly winners, and 36 packs of Nongshim Shin Ramyun for consolation prize winners.

KMT Jaya had held the contest in conjunction with new year celebrations from Nov 20 last year to Feb 28.

“I would like to extend my appreciation to all participants for their support towards this campaign and congratulations to all winners,” said KMT Jaya managing director Matthew Lee.

“KMT Jaya will continue to provide more high quality Korean products and lead the market trend to meet customer expectations,” he added.

Nongshim has been focusing on expanding its market internationally while creating the Korean wave in the global food market.

Its key product, Shin Ramyun, has become the representative ramyun of South Korea because of its well-loved spicy flavour and the noodle’s chewy texture.

Shin Ramyun and other Nongshim noodles are produced with safe manufacturing processes, including zero preservatives, zero trans-fat and less sodium.

Nongshim is also launching new noodle products such as Mr Bibim Korean Spicy Chicken and Mr Bibim Stir-fried Kimchi dry noodles which are halal-certified by the Korean Muslim Federation (KMF).

Both flavours give a punch with a spicier and more intense taste that is sure to resonate with spicy food fans.
