Get typhoid injection, traders told

PERLIS Health Department reminded all food traders at the Ramadan bazaars in the state to get a typhoid vaccine injection.

Its director Dr Zaini Hussin said the department found that many food operators did not get the injection.

“We will issue notices to errant food handlers,” he told reporters at a food safety promotion at a Ramadan bazaar.

Dr Zaini said any individual found to have failed to do so would be liable to a fine of not more than RM10,000 or jailed for a maximum of two years under the Food Act 1983 and the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.

In conjunction with the promotion, the Health Department also visited stalls at the bazaar while distributing hand towels to traders. — Bernama
