Pribumi man and former Umno colleague in battle for Tasek Gelugor

MARZUKI Yahya, 48, who is Penang Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman, will lock horns with Datuk Shabudin Yahaya from Barisan Nasional for the Tasek Gelugor parliamentary seat.

Marzuki was an Umno Youth exco member from 2004 to 2008 and he was also Bagan Umno Youth chief from 2001 to 2008.

A businessman, he joined Pribumi in 2016.

Shabudin, 53, a former Syariah court judge, won the seat in the last general election.

The Tasek Gelugor Umno chief was a two-term Permatang Berangan assemblyman from 2004 till 2013.

The other candidate vying for the seat is Rizal Hafiz Ruslan, 43, of PAS.

In March 2016, Shabudin raised the issue of Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s purchase of a RM2.8mil double-storey house in Jalan Pinhorn at the Dewan Rakyat.
