Malaysian developers bag six world property awards

SIX Malaysia Property Award 2017 winners held their trophies up high at the Fiabci World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2018 which was held in conjunction with the Fiabci 69th World Congress 2018 in Dubai.

They won six Gold awards at the 27th edition of the Fiabci World Prix d’Excellence Awards ceremony cum gala dinner held at Jumeirah Emirates Tower in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

A total of 27 winners were honoured at the award presentation ceremony this year – 14 Gold and 13 Silver winners – from Taiwan, Malaysia, Hungary, Germany, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, China, Russia, Poland, Brazil and the United States.

Fiabci World Prix d’Excellence Awards committee president Prof Chen Ming Cheu presented the trophies to the Gold Winners while Fiabci World president 2017–2018 Farook Mahmood presented the awards to the Silver Winners.

The Malaysian Gold award winners were Seri Kasturi Apartment in the Affordable Housing Category by S P Setia Bhd; Mangala Resort & Spa in Environmental (Rehabiliatation/Conservation) Category by Farm Resort (Gambang) Sdn Bhd; Eco Business Park 1 in Industrial Category by Ecoworld Development Group Bhd; Setia Eco Glades in Master Plan Category by Setia Eco Glades Sdn Bhd; Socso Tun Razak Rehabilitation Centre in Purpose Built Category by Anuar Aziz Architect; and 16 Quartz in Residential (Low Rise) Category by Mitraland Group.

Notably, S P Setia has showcased exceptional strength in the industry as it was the first winner for the Affordable Housing Category in both the Malaysia Property AwardTM 2017 and Fiabci World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2018.

During the event, Prof Chen praised the winning projects for having shown excellent creativity and innovation in the industry which other developers could learn from. He added that the number of participating projects had increased from last year, from 54 to 69 participants this year.

He explained that there were two steps involved in the judging process, as the entries first go through the judges and then, the oversight panel, involving altogether 58 judges from 35 countries.

In his speech, Farook said the winners were more than deserving to be ranked as reference for world excellence in real estate models.

He further added that there were 18 Fiabci chapters which organise local or national real estate awards. Such endeavours create extraordinary synergy in promoting knowledge and networking within the real estate industry.

Farook also thanked the awards committee, judges, oversight panel as well as organising committee for making the 69th Fiabci World Congress and awards presentation ceremony a great success.

He described the winning projects as a great and inspiring contribution to the global real estate industry.

“Their winning projects not only raise the industry’s standard, but give people a hopeful look into the future of real estate.”

Malaysian property developers have once again proven that their quality is on a par with international players by being regular winners of the Fiabci World Prix d’Excellence Awards.

To date, Malaysian developers have won a total of 76 awards in 27 years in the event, including this year.

In addition, there were three Malaysian developers based overseas who won awards as well.

The World Gold Award winners were Yen So Sewage Treatment (Vietnam) in Environmental (Rehabiliation/Conservation) Category by Gamuda City and Eco Sanctuary in Sustainable Development Category by S P Setia while the Malaysian Silver award winner based in Singapore was Hijauan On Cavenagh in the Residential (Mid Rise) Category by Selangor Dredging Bhd.
