ABOUT 200 pupils from Bagan Datuk received school essentials from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) during a ‘Back To School’ presentation ceremony.

The ceremony was held at SMK Hutan Melintang with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s special officer Datuk Khairuddin Tarmizi presenting the items to underprivileged pupils from several schools. Each recipient received a set of uniform, shoes and bags, worth RM200.

“This is especially for families with a lot of children.

“This initiative will be held in 50 districts in the country and some 10,000 pupils will receive these items,” said Perak TNB general manager Raja Datuk Abd Jalil Raja Zaid, adding that a total of about RM2mil will be spent on the effort.

“Since its introduction in 2013, the programme has benefitted some 12,000 pupils form 800 schools,” he added.
