To encourage homeowners to get creative and customise their own space, C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd launched its Homedec Part 2 with a special component, Art @ Homedec at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Held for the first time, Art @ Homedec showcases about 100 pieces of artwork and sculptures created by young local and emerging artists aged 35 years and below for the public to appreciate and purchase.
Most importantly, it also acts as a platform for aspiring artists to meet potential fans and buyers, and tap into the wider Malaysian audience.
“Through this platform, we hope to heighten awareness of career possibilities in visual arts among young Malaysians and raise greater interest in art among Malaysians in general,” said Galeri Chandan gallery manager Harni Jonet.
Home entertainment systems and electronics are major components of Homedec Part 2.
The art pieces are divided into three categories – New Artists (fresh graduates), Young Artists (potential artists who have been actively involved in art exhibitions in the past five years) and Emerging Artists (artists who have made breakthroughs in the art scene with active participation in local and international exhibitions).
Jonet said there was a variety of masterpieces on display ranging from sculptures made of wood and ceramic to artwork made with watercolour, acrylic paint, oil on canvas, charcoal, mixed media and collage.
The sculptures and artwork are priced below RM2,000 and RM3,000, respectively.
“There are many talented local artists in Malaysia but they lack the platform to showcase their products.
“While we strive to promote local art at Homedec, we hope that home enthusiasts will learn more about the value of art and embrace these creative local products,” said C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd president Datuk Vincent Lim.
The expo showcases furnishings such as this living room set.
He added, “Invest in their hard work and masterpieces while they are still young. Not only will their work brighten up your home, they might also double or triple the price when the artists become famous.”
Lim shared that any artwork left unsold at the end of the exhibition would be available for sale via Homedec Shop, an e-commerce portal for homebuyers.
Themed “Furnish & Decorate”, Homedec Part 2 focuses on products and services related to furnishing, refinery, decorating ideas and interior styles to complement Part 1, which featured products and services related to permanent fixtures for renovating purposes.
During the exhibition, visitors can enjoy discounts of up to 70%, take part in the Homedec Contest, and grab as many RM100 bills as they can when they spend RM1,500 and above in a single receipt.
Upon registration, they also stand a chance to win pendant lights by NSB Lighting Sdn Bhd and win freebies and prizes through Homedec Cruisers and the Cuckoo – Did You Know? contest.
The exhibition is open to the public from 10am to 8pm until tomorrow. Admission is free.
