MELAKA: Affin Hwang Asset Management Bhd (Affin Hwang AM) and Chee Siah Le Kee & Partners (CSiLK) will be organising a charity run in November.
Called the Giving is Living Charity Run 2017, the event aims to raise funds for local charities and help promote public awareness on learning disabilities, animal welfare and protecting the environment.
Affin Hwang AM chief marketing and distribution officer Chan Ai Mei said all proceeds from the run on Nov 12 would be donated to Wings Melaka Centre for Development Disabilities, Persatuan Kebajikan Insan Istimewa Melaka (PKIIM), Melaka branch of Taiwan Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation Malaysia and Noah’s Ark Natural Animal Shelter (Nanas).
“We are proud to co-host this charity run together with CSiLK to raise funds and to spark conversations about the mission and the work of these organisations,” she said at a press conference at Affin Hwang AM in Taman Melaka Raya.
Also present were CSiLK consultant Datuk Chee Kong Chi, Affin Hwang AM southern regional manager Jacqueline Chia, PKIIM director Parames Anand and Nanas secretary Datin Siah Li Mei.
Chan said interested Malaysians and international runners could choose to participate in either the 6km Fun Run/Walkathon or the 12km Competitive Run categories.
She said the Fun Run event is open to those aged seven to 80 years old with a registration fee of RM45 per participant.
“A fee of RM60 per participant will be imposed for the Competive Run and the category is open to those who are between 13 and 80 years old, “ she said.
Chan said registration for the event was now open and the public can register at www.racexasia.com. The closing date is Oct 3.
She said runners could also come to CSiLK’s office at No 2B, Jalan KLJ 4, Taman Kota Laksamana Jaya and Affin Hwang AM branch at 584, Jalan Merdeka, Taman Melaka Raya to register.
“We are targeting to register between 1,000 and 1,500 participants for the run which will be officially flagged-off at the CSiLK premises in Taman Kota Laksamana Jaya,” she said.
She said those who managed to complete the run would be eligible to take part in a lucky draw after the event.
Meanwhile, Chee said the organisers were hoping to raise RM150,000 from the event.
He said a committee would then decide on the amount to be given to each of the four selected organisations based on their respective needs.
“I hope this event will encourage more from the corporate sector to come forward with sponsorships to help deserving local communities in the state,” he said.
