South-East Asia as a whole is deemed one of the friendliest regions in the world. From Thailand to Indonesia, locals are often all-smiles and ready to lend a helping hand.
But there is one particular country here that travellers often pick as the friendliest of all: Vietnam.
For several years, Vietnam has received votes as among the world's top 10 countries with the best hospitality.
Most recently, one of its cities was even named the second best in the world when it comes to friendly customer service, and it is none other than the capital, Hanoi.
MoneySuperMarket, a price comparison website, released its list of "World's Top Ten Cities with the Friendliest Customer Service", and Hanoi is the only South-East Asian destination that earned a spot.
Topping the list is Edinburgh. The capital of Scotland is the first out of four United Kingdom cities that placed in the top ten.
The other three UK cities are Liverpool (securing third spot), Birmingham (ninth) and Bristol (tenth), all of which are in England.
The rankings were determined by analysing more than 1,000 customer reviews related to businesses, these include restaurants, bars, attractions and things to do in 107 different cities across the globe.
Edinburgh leads with 59% reviews highlighting friendly staff and service. Hanoi and Liverpool follow with 58.6% and 58.3%, respectively.
Other cities rounding up the top ten are Paris, France (57.5%); Dublin, Ireland (57.3%); Montreal, Canada (56.8%); Vienna, Austria (55.6%); Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (55.3%); Birmingham (54.2%); and Bristol (53.7%).
