Now until April is the perfect time for stargazing in Krabi

Enjoy an expert-led stargazing session during the dry season in Krabi, Thailand. — Handout

Stargazing is best done in a place with minimal light pollution, and the Mueang Krabi district in the Krabi province of Thailand happens to be one of those places.

Located in this district is Saii Phi Phi Island Village, a sustainable luxury resort with a star-focused programme called “Astro Moments”.

Here, you can take part in the programme’s stargazing sessions, which are complimentary for resort guests and led by experts from Phuket’s BCIS Planetarium. These experts can give you further insights into constellations, planets and celestial phenomena.

You might unfortunately not have enough time to catch this month’s session, which falls on the 24th. But there are three more dates that you can aim for: Feb 28, March 21 and April 25.

Reservations for Astro Moments can be done via www.saiihotels.com.

The remote location of the resort combined with the area’s year-round clear skies, which are especially so during the dry season from November to April, create ideal conditions for stargazing.

It is also ideal for some romance under the stars. The resort offers a “Starry Picnic by the Beach” experience, which is designed for couples and includes celestial-themed drinks and a gourmet hamper featuring Asian-inspired delicacies.

During your stay at the resort, you can set an itinerary based on your zodiac — with the help of the resort’s Zodiac-to-Experience Guide.

For example, if you’re an Aries, someone drawn to movement and adventure, you might be interested in activities like kayaking, paddleboarding and snorkelling vibrant reefs.
