It may not be your birthday but you're the one getting the gifts. Digital travel platform Agoda is turning 20 on May 19, and it plans to celebrate with a "global birthday sale".

The company will be giving discounts of up to 70% on their platform.

"As we celebrate Agoda’s 20th birthday, we can proudly say that Agoda has become one of Asia Pacific’s preferred travel marketplaces," Agoda's CEO, Omri Morgenshtern, said in a press statement.

He added that the company's success comes from its strong tech foundation and "deep understanding of Asian cultures".

It plans to keep improving with Artificial Intelligence and other tools to offer more personalised travel options. To meet customers', Agoda has developed a search experience that assists travellers in finding and booking their trip with ease.

It does so by performing daily tasks that include handling one trillion price checks, recording over two billion user interactions, and running over 1,000 experiments to improve user experience.

It also performs the monthly task of processing 12 petabytes (PB) of data, which translates to 12,000,000,000,000,000 bytes of yearly storage.

The travel platform also gives back to the community, especially in the APAC region, through campaigns like Eco Deals, which has raised over RM5.7mil for wildlife conservation and tech workshops for students in Thailand.

Agoda's 20th Birthday Sale will run from May 7-21 on Agoda.com and through its mobile app.
