If you haven’t booked your holiday tickets yet – or are looking for last-minute flight deals – then you are in luck.

Malaysia Airlines has announced that it is increasing flight frequencies between Kuala Lumpur and Sabah/Sarawak for the year-end travel season, as well as for next month’s Chinese New Year celebrations. This is to accommodate the expected increase in travel demand during the two peak seasons.

The airline will operate a total of 112 additional red-eye flights for the remainder of the month. To break it down: There will be 66 more flights to and from the Sabah hubs (Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Tawau), and 46 more flights to and from Kuching and Miri in Sarawak.

This will bring the total of flights between KL and the Bornean states – from Dec 19 to Jan 1, 2025 – to a whopping 596!

As for the Chinese New Year travel season, Malaysia Airlines will operate 102 additional red-eye flights from KL to Sabah/Sarawak between Jan 24 and Feb 4. On top of that, the carrier is also offering “all-in” fares (for one-way flights) starting at RM349, for those travelling between KL and Sabah/Sarawak.

Meanwhile, for those planning a trip to Jakarta, the airline is introducing a seventh daily flight to the Indonesian capital, from Jan 28.
