Authorities on the Italian island of Sardinia have restricted access to a picturesque waterfall and natural pool after too many tourists came to take selfies.

Last weekend about 300 people a day visited S'Ogliu Ermanu, the mayor of the western Sardinian municipality of Ussassai, Francesco Usai, told the ANSA news agency.

He said it was "unthinkable" that the beauty spot, which is part of a fragile ecosystem and can only be reached by a small path, could handle so many visitors.
