What’s your number one tip for taking a beautiful OOTD shot? – June, KL
Make it feel natural! Effortless poses often look the best, but if you want something more dramatic, go for a storytelling-style shot.
Don’t be afraid to ask a friend to help you – sometimes having someone else take the picture can make all the difference.

Natural light tends to be softer and more flattering, especially for fashion shots. It highlights your features beautifully and creates depth.
Try standing by a window or stepping outside during the golden hour (early morning or late afternoon) for the best results.
Artificial lighting isn’t always bad, but it can sometimes be harsh and create unflattering shadows.

For a full-body shot to show off both my clothes and shoes, what’s better, taken from a low angle or a high angle? – Shelly, Penang
Both angles can work well, but eye-level is the safest option for a balanced shot.
If you want to appear taller or create a stronger presence, try a low-angle shot. It’s my go-to because it makes the subject look confident and powerful.
Clean backdrop or a busy one? – Dylan, JB
Both can be great depending on your outfit and the vibe you’re going for.
A plain background puts all the focus on you, so be sure to pose with energy to keep the shot interesting.
On the other hand, a colourful or patterned background can enhance your look – just play with contrast or colour blocking to ensure your outfit still stands out.
I don’t want to just take posed shots. Is it possible to get movement shots to show off my outfit using a smartphone camera? – Shaniza, Taiping
Absolutely! Just keep moving – spin, walk, or flip your hair – and use your phone’s burst mode (or fast shot mode) to capture several frames in quick succession.
Don’t worry if some shots are a little blurry – sometimes those imperfect moments turn out to be the most dynamic and eye-catching.

It depends on your skin tone and the lighting. If you find that pastels or whites tend to wash you out, try adding contrast – like pairing a pastel top with a darker hijab, scarf, or accessories.
Rich jewel tones like emerald green, sapphire blue, or deep maroon tend to photograph beautifully on most skin tones and can really pop in photos.

What are some poses that are easy yet can help make my OOTD shots look better and less awkward? – SK, Seremban
You can stand slightly angled with one foot in front of the other for a relaxed, flattering look.
Another way is to walk naturally while looking off to the side – it’s casual but creates a nice sense of movement.
For a playful pose, try to hold your bag, adjust your hair or fix your sleeves.
These subtle actions can make your shot feel effortless.
There is also the hands-on-hips or crossed-arms stance. Doing as such can give a powerful yet natural vibe.
Most importantly, have fun with it. The best photos often come when you’re relaxed and enjoying yourself.
