The Autumn/Winter 2025 makeup trends are giving beauty lovers a lot to get excited about with trends ranging from brightly coloured eyeshadow and bold lips to glowy and natural skin.

All eyes are on the stunning creations showcased at the ongoing “big four” fashion week events, but no runway would be complete without the stunning makeup conceptualised by brands and executed by talented makeup artists.

New York Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week have brought out bold makeup as well as more natural looks, with some designers opting for a pop of colour on an otherwise blank canvas.

Take a look at the round-up of standout trends to emerge from the Autumn/Winter 2025 runways so far.

Dramatic eyes

It’s time to stock up on eyeshadow palettes, because this trend is back in a big way.

The recent runways gave us a little less Chappell Roan, a little more 1980s supermodel glam when it came to eyeshadow, with designers like Kim Shui, Giorgio Armani, Tory Burch and Luar dolling their models up in bold hues.

Models at Kim Shui sported silver and black eyeshadow while Tory Burch paid tribute to the 1970s with their models’ neutral matte eyeshadow.

Apart from bold and metallic shades as seen at Giorgio Armani, bright blue hues were also spotted on several runways, including Sandy Liang and Christian Cowan.

A winner for nights out, the 1990s glam smokey eye is also back, appearing on the Frederick Anderson runway, among others.

Pretty natural

Glowy finishes, glass skin and barely-there makeup with a little bit of shine were top choices for several designers in New York and Milan.

Models walked down the runway with clean and natural-looking skin with a hint of a hydrated glow.

Makeup artist Sil Bruinsma, on his Instagram page, spoke about the prep that went into Prabal Gurung’s show.

“Just like last season we used hardly any concealer or foundation and let the skincare shine,” he wrote, adding that the team added a flush of colour to cheeks, eyes and lips.

At the Monse show in New York, a shiny base was the first step, followed by very light makeup on the lips, eyes and cheeks.

Other designers opted for a dash of highlighter to give their models’ faces an edge, with some going for a dewy look.

Bring on the lippie

From bold red hues and vampy shades to softer colours, several types of lip trends made their way onto the recent runways.

At Versace’s show, makeup by Pat McGrath drew attention to the lips, with deep burgundy and brown hues topped off with clear gloss.

According to Vogue.com, the vivid, deep burgundy shade, “McMenamy”, takes its name from the iconic model Kristen McMenamy, known for her love of the bold lip colours.

Just like the designer’s gorgeous and feminine creations, Carolina Herrera’s models were styled in makeup that was effortless, enhanced with a soft lip colour.

On her Instagram page, makeup artist for the show, Samantha Lau described the look as “Inspired by a gorgeous girl who took a walk through Central Park: luminous, windswept, lips bitten by the cold”.

A little extra

While most of the trends spotted at the recent fashion week outings are extremely wearable and easy to do yourself, some designers took it a step further with creative makeup looks.

In tribute to the timeless style of Antonio Marras, female models at the Milan show had shiny bits of red on the center of their lips over a clean face to signify how the rose is a classic symbol of the brand’s aesthetic.

Long, feathered lashes were a focal point at Thom Browne’s Autumn/Winter 2025 show, inspired by birds, according to harpersbazaar.com.

Makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench, who worked with the brand Lashify to create the look, said the idea was to bring a magical story to life through makeup.
