Stylish celebrities gathered in London on Sunday (Feb 16) for the British Academy Film Awards (Baftas). Sporting some of the most chic red carpet designs, their presence is seen as a prelude of what to expect come this year's Oscars.

Stars like Demi Moore, Zoe Saldana, Pamela Anderson, Selena Gomez, Mikey Madison, Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Saoirse Ronan and more turned heads with their stunning gowns.

There was a feel of old Hollywood glamour to the evening. Colours were muted, but the looks did not skimp on the sequins.

Ruffles, draping and the liberal use of lace also helped dressed up each outfit.

When it comes to the men, classic suits and tuxedos ruled. This bucks the trend of menswear heading down a more casual route over in the US (yes, even for formal red carpet fashion).

In showbiz, the Baftas serves as a predictor of sorts. Those who snag awards at the British counterpart of the prestigious awards ceremony are believed to have a high chance to emerge as Oscar winners.

The modest red carpet ensembles seen this year (mostly in blacks or whites) are taken to be a sign of respect – in response to the recent wildfires that devastated Los Angeles.
