The Cannes Film Festival is currently in full swing. Taking place at the namesake coastal town on the French Riviera, it draws in the biggest stars from around the world.

This year’s highlights on the red carpet so far include the likes of Anya Taylor-Joy, Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh, Emma Stone and Aishwarya Rai.

Taylor-Joy made numerous appearances during the festival, with each of her looks more than daring than ever.

On one occasion, she wore a knit crop top and skirt from Jil Sander. This look just screams avant-garde chic, especially as she paired it with a brass and crystal headpiece.

Yeoh’s fringe gown with a leather bodice was just the right amount of hard-meets-soft.

The Bottega Veneta gown gave off an edgy vibe, which the Oscar winner matched with another new hairdo: a cool fringed cut.

Another Oscar winner also opted for a bold look on the red carpet. Stone’s plunging Louis Vuitton dress drew all eyes, more so with the burgundy shine it came in.

The actress however chose a casual hairstyle, opting for loose curls that just screamed “it-girl”.

Aishwarya went the full drama route with bigger and louder outfits.

The Falguni Shane Peacock gown she wore to one film premiere sported puffy white sleeves and a long cape with embellished golden flowers all over.

It was further decorated with golden foil details on the bodice.

Other celebrities that stood out on the red carpet included Salma Hayek, Heidi Klum, Cate Blanchett, Selena Gomez and Gong Li.

The overarching trend this year seems to be metallic gowns, with texture being a favourite too – especially appliques or lace that help transform an otherwise simple design.
