Local jeweller honours Malaysia’s cultural heritage in latest collection

This diamond Anyaman necklace features 807 diamonds in different sizes and takes inspiration from the classic Dokoh (traditional necklace of three pendants or brooches). The brooch has 420 pieces of different size round brilliant cut diamonds set in 18 karat yellow gold. The men's Butang Baju Melayu and silver palladium rings are adorned with diamonds and gemstones. Local jeweller Habib always emphasises the significance of strong familial bonds in its annual Raya campaign known as Rantaian Kasih or ties that bind.

While each year features a different theme, it will always honour Malaysia’s cultural heritage, and this year is no different with the Anyaman collection.

Anyaman is the traditional Malaysian art of weaving and this is incorporated as patterns on the jewellery.

Recently, Habib held a preview of the Rantaian Kasih 2024 Anyaman collection at a grand event reminiscent of a Raya open house, where guests attended in traditional clothes and were treated to a dinner of Raya cuisine.

One of the highlights was the presence of a weaver who demonstrated the intricacies of the weaving tecnique.

Guests were able to get a close hand look at the beautiful pieces on display, and also worn by the models during the fashion show.

“While we celebrate Raya, Habib holds the responsibility to preserve timeless heritage and encourage the public to continue appreciating the cultural intricacies of traditional arts.

“Therefore, we have chosen the art of Anyaman as the theme for this year’s Raya campaign to put a spotlight on this cultural tradition and ensure it does not fade with time. The neat intertwining and precision on each woven piece symbolise familial bonds, tradition, and the richness of our heritage, making it the perfect inspiration for our Rantaian Kasih Campaign,” said Datuk Seri Meer Habib, executive chairman of Habib Group.

What makes this year’s campaign even more special were the ambassadors who were introduced at the event. There is a family of four – actress Amyra Rosli, her actor husband, Amar Baharin and her two children, Aqeef Anaqi and Ayra Aryssa, and two other actresses, Sharifah Rose, and Ezzanie Jasny.

The woven craftsmanship can be seen throughout the campaign, jewellery collections and the Raya money packets.

For the Anyaman collection, there are several modern and classic pieces including a stunning necklace which shows the anyaman in various hues. This diamond and gold necklace consists of 452 round brilliant cut diamonds with a mix of yellow, white, and rose gold and set in a classic weaving pattern.

One particular set of a diamond and yellow gold earrings, bangle, and ring has a different take on the weaving technique for a more visual appeal.

As for the other collections under Rantaian Kasih, favourites include the Oro Italia 916 collection which has been given a contemporary update and the Clara collection with 916 gold in hues of blue, green, pink and purple.

The men aren’t overlooked either as this year, Habib has a Men’s collection featuring Butang Baju Melayu and silver palladium rings adorned with diamonds and gemstones.

For those who would like to give gold coins for Raya or as gifts, there is the 999.9 Gold Wafer Coin Anyaman Edition, which comes in five unique designs weighing 0.2 grams each or as a set which comes in a limited-edition box.

The Rantaian Kasih 2024 Campaign is available at all Habib showrooms nationwide till April 9, 2024.
