Much like an haute couture House, French high perfumery brand Henry Jacques was historically known for creating fragrances composed and tailored to individuals bringing to life thousands of exceptionally personal, olfactory dreams.

Henry Jacques’ expertise and know-how lies first and foremost in the creation of Sur-Mesure, or Bespoke, Perfumes.

For over 40 years, Henry Jacques’ atelier was solely dedicated to creating Bespoke scents with every new request dedicated to reviving a new memory and awakening a lost emotion.

The Maison’s experts use preserved ancestral methods of French high perfumery while staying true to the maison’s tradition and patrimony to formulate scent proposals for clients.

Far from a simple blend or slight adjustment, Sur-Mesure Perfumes are truly unique creations for the Maison. Throughout the creation process, the use of premium natural components is essential, enabling the perfumers to reach the depth and nuances necessary to rightly portray the desires of clients.

Creating the perfect fragrance that is unique to you, a symbol of your identity and expression of your soul, is something special that the Maison constantly strives to achieve.

Capturing your dream scent

The Sur-Mesure adventure begins with a flair for beautiful perfumery, catered to ones who desire to bring their passion to the next level.

Consultations begin in one of Henry Jacques’ boutiques or within the comfort of the client’s home, where a maze of scents are presented by the Maison’s experts to help map out the client’s preferences and emotions.

This is where their olfactory personalities are defined. Decades of experience and ability to understand the desires of their clients has been shaped to near perfection through simple yet detailed conversations to aid in the creation of the perfect Sur-Mesure Perfume.

The adventure continues inside the Maison’s laboratory located within the South of France, where their experts use preserved ancestral methods of French high perfumery while staying true to the Maison’s tradition and patrimony to formulate and conceive scent proposals for clients.

Thanks to the experts’ know-how, vast knowledge of traditional French high perfumery and nearly 3,000 existing formulas within the laboratory, three proposals are then crafted and presented to the clients.

Within two months, the three perfumes are given the seal of approval by the Maison’s CEO, Anne-Lise Cremona, and shared with the clients.

In almost every case to date, their clients discover their dream perfumes among the first three fragrances. On the rare occasions that their perfect scent is still yet to be materialised, their experts continue to work on the fragrances until perfection is achieved.

The entire process takes approximately four to six months, a time frame that is second to none in the perfume world.

A unique name is chosen for the client’s final masterpiece and presented to them in a beautiful leather chest, handcrafted in France, that can be customised in a variety of colours and finishings.

Different forms and sizes of the final Sur-Mesure Perfumes are housed – whether it’s Essences (oils), Brumes (mists) or Solides (used for the Clic-Clac device), acting as the perfect addition to one’s exquisite perfume wardrobe.

The client’s specific Sur-Mesure Perfumes will remain in the Maison’s archives forever, giving them the opportunity to re-order them endlessly.

In line with the house’s bespoke spirit, a design consultation with the Maison’s artistic director Christophe Tollemer can be arranged for clients looking for more exquisite and precious methods of presenting their Sur-Mesure creations.

A globally renowned French architect, Tollemer’s repertoire includes a museum of perfume and a specially designed tree, with each branch bearing a birdcage filled with the precious Sur-Mesure Perfumes.

Henry Jacques has pushed the boundaries of creativity with its newly launched HJ Voyage collection, an exquisitely crafted line of travel cases designed to house Henry Jacques’ precious perfumes.

With these travel cases, you will always be accompanied by your wardrobe of favourite perfumes on your journey around the world.

Inspired by the past notion of always having your scents close yet brought to life with contemporary design mastery and innovations, Voyage combines tradition and modernity, making the HJ art-de-vivre seamless and free.

The chic cases are versatile and timeless, with a combination of playful designs and more classic interpretations representative of varying tastes and lifestyles.

HJ Voyage is offered in five different materials – sumptuous black calfskin, sporty royal blue Porosus crocodile with its vibrant orange zip accent, romantic white calfskin with roses, black jacquard fabric embroidered with whimsical dragonflies, and elegant black eel.

They also come in four sizes to carry one or three flacons of 15ml Les Essences (traditional essences), or, one or three flacons of larger 75ml Les Brumes (lighter expression of the essences in spray format).

Bringing the vision of the collection of travel cases to life was a complex task and took years of research and development, with unwavering quality always at the forefront.

Tollemer poured his heart and soul into this line of exclusive leather accessories, sourcing the finest materials from all over the world and applying the Maison’s celebrated savoir-faire with no compromise.

Specially commissioned to an expert team of craftsmen and produced in collaboration with several luxury leather and bag manufacturers, each model is made by hand.

Creativitiy and artistry intertwine to complete the effortless interplay between case, flacon and fragrance.

Exceptional materials were used for the cases to look beautiful, yet at the same time, remain durable.

The Australia Porosus crocodile, tanned in France, is so soft it can be used to make clothes, and adapts to every Henry Jacques’ case shape.

The premium eel leather was a challenge: native to seas of Japan, the supple material needs to be painstakingly stitched to mimic natural lines.

While the jacquard fabric is woven in Spain, the black and white calf leathers, chosen for durability, are tanned in Italy.

Strong in form yet delicate, reminiscent of art and crafted through passion, every detail has been considered, in line with the traditional French pursuit of excellence.

The zippers have been customised for this collection with a jewellery-like approach, made of palladium and gold.

All cases are lined with velvet, and the three-flacon cases even feature a passport insert, to ensure all travel essentials are close.
