The CFDA Awards celebrates the best of US fashion. It honours the designers – but somehow, the celebrities always take the spotlight on the red carpet.
Host of this year’s event, Anne Hathaway, wore denim (yes, denim!) to such a glitzy event.
The actress made it work though. The Ralph Lauren design comprised a bustier and long skirt, the combination of which gave off ballgown vibes.
Coco Rocha, who has grown her career from modelling to now include film and television, brought out the drama with her very avant-garde Christian Siriano dress.
The model is a master at posing, and she certainly proved it by preening in front of photographers.

Singer Mary J Blige also wore Christian Siriano. Her’s however, was bedazzled to max. She wore the mesh dress over a black bodysuit.
Actress Rosario Dawson was dressed in Mara Hoffman. The all-white design stood out, more so with the huge floral embellishment making up the top of the frock.
Black seems to be a favoured colour for the evening. Several stars wore all-black – yet, still managed to dazzle.
Actress Jane Krakowski chose a black Cynthia Rowley minidress. It was not entirely muted though. Colourful flowers and soft feathers added drama to the look.
There were lots of other famous faces that went the black route too.
Kim Kardashian was spotted in a halter-neck dress that showed off her curves. This Chrome Hearts design however, had a surprise – it is backless.
The television personality – together with smoky-eye makeup and black nails – won praises for the look, with many of her fans dubbing it “bombshell glam”.

Model WInnie Harlow and actress Naomi Watts opted for black as well.
Harlow showed off lots of skin (she being a body-positivity advocate who has vitiligo) with her Marc Jacobs gown. It actually has polka dots... but also in black.
Watts chose Carolina Herrera. It had dramatic puff sleeves and a plunging front.
As for the awards handed out by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), winning designers include Catherine Holstein of Khaite (womenswear), Willy Chavarria (menswear), Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen of The Row (accessory), and Rachel Scott of Diotima (emerging designer).
