The gender melting pot is on the agenda at Paris Fashion Week, which kicked off September 27, bringing with it an unexpected collaboration between the Tinder dating app and the Koche fashion label.

Here, two very different worlds unite for a ready-to-wear capsule mixing streetwear and craftsmanship – two key themes for the luxury brand – with Tinder's culture of love.

This meeting of minds rises to a shared challenge: to free fashion from the notion of gender.

For more than five years, Christelle Kocher – with her Koche brand – has managed to surprise the fashion world with unexpected offerings, often blending luxury with craftsmanship and pop culture.

This sounds less unusual today, but that certainly wasn't the case when she started out. Her collaborations with the Paris Saint-Germain soccer club, as well as Von Dutch and BUD, are proof enough of this.

For the label's Spring/Summer 2022 collection, Koche is once again making waves with a new collaboration that's sure to get attention.

After New York, London and Milan, the fashion week calendar has rolled into Paris, bringing with it a major return to physical shows.

On Tuesday (Sept 28), the Koche brand showcased the fruit of a unique collaboration with Tinder.

This ready-to-wear capsule breaks away from the classic codes of fashion – first by combining craftsmanship, urbanwear, love and culture – but also, and above all, in its celebration of gender fluidity, and non-gendered fashion.

"The strength of this collection lies in how it embodies a generation with many faces. Koche is thrilled to be able to collaborate with a brand like Tinder that is rooted in pop culture and reflects our current era with values we hold dear such as inclusivity and diversity," said Kocher, in a statement.

For this collection, Koche has reinterpreted the graphic universe of Tinder in eight pieces, including a hoodie, a T-shirt, a cap and a bandana.

But the standout piece in the collab is none other than a T-shirt dress entirely embroidered with beads in the colours of Tinder, and finished with ostrich feathers, showcasing to perfection the fashion label's expertise.

And, in the name of gender fluidity, none of the clothes and accessories will be labeled by gender.

Profits will be donated to the ModaFusion association for its social and educational project Casa93, supporting the inclusion of young talents in the fashion industry. – AFP Relaxnews
