Model Martha Hunt shone a light on the issue of scoliosis, by honouring the surgeon and scientist Dr. Sariah Khormaee MD-PhD with an Instagram post. Hunt, who had surgery to correct her scoliosis as a teenager, has set up a foundation with Dr. Khormaee that aims "to find an improved understanding of the spine and access to high quality care worldwide".
The model wrote: "I'm celebrating #internationalwomensday, specifically one of the few female spinal surgeons (+scientists!) in the world, Dr. #SariahKhormaee."
During a trip to Capitol Hill in April 2016 advocating for #ScoliosisResearch, I met surgeon scientist, Dr. Sariah Khormaee MD-PhD. We remained friends & continued to challenge each other on what brought us together: #scoliosis. Now we’re committed to extending impact beyond advocacy, specifically getting women trained in research. With our foundation we are looking to find an improved understanding of the spine and access to high quality care worldwide. I’m celebrating #internationalwomensday, especially one of the few female spinal surgeons (+scientists!) in the world, Dr. #SariahKhormaee A post shared by Martha Hunt (@marthahunt) on Mar 8,2020 at 9:56am PDT
