Martha Hunt

Model Martha Hunt shone a light on the issue of scoliosis, by honouring the surgeon and scientist Dr. Sariah Khormaee MD-PhD with an Instagram post. Hunt, who had surgery to correct her scoliosis as a teenager, has set up a foundation with Dr. Khormaee that aims "to find an improved understanding of the spine and access to high quality care worldwide".

The model wrote: "I'm celebrating #internationalwomensday, specifically one of the few female spinal surgeons (+scientists!) in the world, Dr. #SariahKhormaee."

Miranda Kerr

Australian model and entrepreneur Miranda Kerr shared a video message with her 12.2 million Instagram followers to mark the day, saying: "It's important that not only today but every day we uplift, encourage and empower each other." She also shared some images showing her with some of the inspirational women in her own life.

Karlie Kloss

Supermodel Karlie Kloss is a well-known champion of female empowerment, thanks to her role as the founder of Kode With Klossy, an organisation that helps to engage, empower and prepare women and girls to learn computer code.

"For me, a key pillar of this day is making sure the girls of today are equipped with the tools to become powerful women and leaders of tomorrow, which is why we started Kode With Klossy five years ago," the model wrote on Instagram, encouraging followers to apply to one of her free coding camps. "These girls will change the world."

Gisele Bundchen

Modelling icon Bundchen shared a series of snapshots of her nearest and dearest via her Instagram account for International Women's Day, writing: "Much gratitude and respect for all the women who paved the way, so we could be here today working, voting and having a voice. Through their strength, courage and love they continue transforming the world and making it a better place for the next generations to come."

Much gratitude and respect for all the women who paved the way, so we could be here today working, voting and having a voice. Through their strength, courage and love they continue transforming the world and making it a better place for the next generations to come. Today and every day, I celebrate women. Let’s support and lift each other up! We are stronger when we are together. Happy women’s day!
