A YouTube video featuring 26 Malaysian healthcare workers singing artiste Man Bai's popular song Kau Ilhamku has garnered over 15,000 views since it was first uploaded four days ago.

The song is dedicated to all Malaysians in their battle against Covid-19. The video was uploaded on Jan 10 on the YouTube channel, Amazing Pei.

"It has been over a year of battling the virus and the end is still nowhere to be seen. With the number of cases still surging, the stress on our healthcare system is substantial.

"We wish to pay tribute to our heroic colleagues who devote their time and energy, risking their own lives daily to contain the pandemic," wrote Dr Lau Shyan Ling on the channel.

"Not forgetting members of the public, we wish to thank all fellow Malaysians, each and every one of you who stood patiently with us, who diligently practised new norms, and more so to you who volunteered to assist our healthcare workers and other frontliners. We know we are not alone because you help us get through it," added Dr Lau.

The video was produced and edited by Dr Tew Pei See. It features medical professionals singing and playing instruments like the violin, piano and guitar to the award-winning song.

These frontliners are from various government hospitals – including Kuala Lumpur's Tunku Azizah Hospital, Ipoh's Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, Sibu's Klinik Kesihatan Jalan Oya, Lahad Datu Hospital – and also the private sector.

Amazing Pei wrote: "There aren't enough words to thank everyone for all you have done for us! Thank you for watching and sharing it over social media. Thank you for all the kind words that we received in the last two days. Many of the frontliners were under quarantine when recording the song. Many of the frontliners were under quarantine when recording the song.

"This is just a simple song cover to cheer everyone up at the most difficult time of our lives. Many of us were under quarantine when recording the song, which makes it more meaningful for us. Thank you Malaysians! Kau ilhamku! Together we fight."

The video has since been shared widely and has received positive feedback from Malaysians and even individuals overseas.

A viewer from Manchester, Britain wrote: "The most beautiful yet heart-wrenching song I have ever heard... what an Amazing Pei. Thank you, Malaysian frontliners for keeping everyone safe! Sending my love and support from Manchester."

Yoke Lin Phoon wrote: "A big thank you to all our national frontline heroes. May God reward you for all your sacrifices. May God watch over all of you and keep you safe."
