Architects of the Year

Japanese architect Kengo Kuma is currently one of the most influential designers of contemporary buildings in the world. Some of his recent iconic projects include the V&A Dundee, Britain, The Exchange in Sydney, Australia, and Ochanomizu in Tokyo, Japan. The artful use of light in combination with airy facade structures gives the first two buildings an ethereal vibe.

Interior Designers of the Year

Alberto Caiola’s works include the extravagant Crash Baggage @ La Fayette retail space as well as the ancient Greece-inspired rooftop club NYZ, both in Shanghai, China. He “removes the boundaries between classic interior design and art installation in an extremely individual way”.

Architects’ Client of the Year

The Architects’ Client of the Year title, which is presented to a project client that supports a holistic understanding of architecture, was given to Adidas AG this year. Adidas hired Behnisch Architekten and Cobe Copenhagen, two renowned architecture firms to design two buildings for its head office employees.

They were built shortly after each other on the World of Sports campus in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria.
