Space, the final frontier

Silhouette of the USS Enterprise from Star Trek.

I grew up watching Star Trek. Not the fancy new films directed by J.J. Abrams where Chris Pine actually makes Captain Kirk believable, I mean the old ones from the 1960s where William Shatner delivers his script like he’s on the verge of forgetting his lines. As a Star Trek fan, I was elated when I read earlier this week that Mark Zuckerberg and Stephen Hawkins are both supporting an initiative for interstellar space flight.

Interstellar space flight! That meant those Star Trek episodes are coming true! Travelling around in a giant ship exploring the universe, just a crew of hundreds braving the vast empty void of space!
