Jeevanjee Gardens, where democracy lives in Kenya

This bronze statue stands as a tribute to Alibhai Mulla Jeevanjee (1856–1936), an Indian merchant, politician and philanthropist who went on to play a large role in the development of modern day Kenya during colonial rule. In 1904, he began developing the park and donated it to the people of Nairobi two years later as a place where the public can use to relax. Locals still go to the park to relax, but they also go there to debate at the People's Parliament. Photo: Wikimedia
