To the extraordinary teachers and support staff of the Special Education Integrated Programme (PPKI) at SK Kangka Tebrau (SKKT) in Johor Baru, this letter is a heartfelt salute from the parents whose lives you have touched and whose children you have empowered.

We, a group of 16 parents, wish to express our deepest appreciation for a journey that felt nothing short of miraculous.

The successful excursion to Singapore for 50 special needs students on Nov 19, 2025 was far more than an outing – it was a powerful statement that our children can achieve anything.

Managing border crossings, crowds and routines for 50 unique children was dedication beyond measure.

This achievement was made possible through months of meticulous planning by the core team: Mohd Razi Mohd Salleh (senior assistant teacher, PPKI), Cikgu Siti Aisyah Mohd Salleh (programme coordinator) and Cikgu Nur Fathiah Mohamad Saupi (programme manager).

They were supported by a group of devoted teachers (Cikgu Hani, Cikgu Fadzila, Cikgu Yogesh, Cikgu Syazana, Cikgu Shahira, Ustaz Shah and Ustaz Fadhil), and four teacher’s assistants (PPM) (Mama Aisyah, Cik Ton, Mama Roz and Mama Fatin), whose patience and compassion left all accompanying parents in awe.

We witnessed the quiet dignity and discipline of the children at immigration – a powerful testament to the structure, confidence and resilience you have instilled in them.

The day began early, with excited children registering at 6.15am and returning – tired, happy and triumphant – at 11pm. It was a demanding 16-hour journey for all, especially the teachers who carried the greatest responsibility throughout.

One of the participating fathers, Mr Visnu, captured our collective sense of awe: “Managing even one child with special needs on an outing requires immense focus.

But witnessing 10 teachers and four PPMs calmly and professionally handle 50 students across an international border was incredible. The way the children lined up and followed instructions was truly impressive.

My friends were astonished when I told them about this trip. It wasn’t just an outing; it was a masterclass in caregiving and organisation.”

Mohd Fairuz Milikiaman, one of the fathers, said: “The level of control and the positive energy the teachers maintained throughout the day was astounding. Every contingency was anticipated – from medication management to ensuring every child enjoyed the full experience. They made the impossible feel routine, proving their commitment has no limit.”

The itinerary introduced the students to a world beyond their familiar routines: the futuristic landscapes of Gardens by the Bay, the thrill of Sentosa Island, and the real-life bustle of Bugis Street, right down to exchanging currency near Changi Airport.

Yet, the greatest highlight was the joy reflected in our children’s eyes. Mohd Fairuz’s son Eid Awal Khan, expressed it simply: “Saya sangat teruja dan terkejut sebab dapat pergi ke luar negara... Cikgu-cikgu memang hebat bawa saya and kawan-kawan ke Singapore!” (I was very excited and surprised because I got to go abroad. The teachers are truly amazing for bringing me and my friends to Singapore!).

For many, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel abroad with friends, an experience that strengthened their confidence and showed them their abilities are limitless.

To all the teachers and support staff, you are not just educators – you are guardians of dreams.

In the spirit of the saying, “Hendak seribu daya, tak hendak seribu dalih” (Where there is a will, there is a way), you have shown that with passion and determination, no goal is too great.

Thank you for your courage, compassion and extraordinary commitment.
