It is interesting how quickly things can change. In the 1970s, microwaves were considered revolutionary – never before had people been able to reheat food at whim or defrost meat in a machine.

But these days, space is at a premium and for urban dwellers living in cramped quarters, a microwave is just another apppliance clogging up limited kitchen countertops.
