We received overwhelming response on the topic, Floral Design Day, which was celebrated last week.

There are many reasons why flowers are loved by people – some of us like how pretty flowers are with their different shades and shapes while others like the fragrance of the flowers.

Did you know flowers like jasmine, rose and lavender are used in perfumes?

Here are some letters from our readers’ who share why they love flowers so much.

“I love flowers in all types of colour and design. My favourite flowers are orchids, anthuriums and daises. If I were a florist, I would use these flowers in all my decorations, ” says J. Kushalini, 11.

“I like colourful flowers. They can brighten up anyone’s day, ” writes Luke Jayden Alcantra, eight.

Rinishan Ganapati, seven

Rinishan Ganapati, seven, writes: “I’d like to create a floral design that resembles a fish.”

Older sibling Keerthisha Ganapati, 11, likes orchids, a flower that comes in all colours of the rainbow. “Orchids can last for weeks and they have a wonderful fragrance. If I could create an orchid floral design, it would resemble my father’s car.”

Seven-year-old Kerthana Selvakumar wants to create a floral pattern that resembles a five-petal flower. “Flowers are colourful and smell nice. I’d like to create a floral arrangement with my favourite flowers like roses and orchids.”
