Former South Korean supermodel Kim Ja-yeon, 45, has announced her marriage to former Samsung Electronics president Sohn Young-kwon, 70.
The couple, who have a 25-year age gap, exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony attended by family members in Switzerland.
Sharing photos from the wedding on Instagram, Kim, who now works as a trends analyst, reflected on finding love later in life.
“I always thought I would remain single for the rest of my life, but well past the age of 40, after taking a long and winding road, I finally met the one,” she wrote.
Kim revealed that she first met Sohn two years ago through their shared connection as alumni of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The two initially became friends before their relationship gradually blossomed into romance.
“Before we knew it, we had become special to each other and started envisioning a life together.
“Having built two years of trust as good friends, it did not take us long to decide to spend the rest of our lives together once we became a couple,” she wrote.
Despite Sohn’s prominent positions as an advisor to Samsung Electronics and chairman of Harman International's board of directors, Kim said it was his personal qualities that made him special to her.
“Beyond all his professional achievements, he is a warm-hearted person who genuinely cares for and loves me, always treating me with consideration and respect. He also finds my tall stature incredibly adorable,” she wrote.
In another Instagram post, Kim thanked well-wishers for their congratulatory messages and asked them to respect her privacy.
She also offered some words of encouragement about finding love at different stages of life, saying everyone has their own timeline.
“For most people, it may come sooner, but for me, it arrived a little later, well past the age of 40. The right person comes along at the right time for everyone, sometimes when we least expect it,” she wrote.
