Nicholas Tse has returned to work just over a week after the passing of his father, legendary Hong Kong actor Patrick Tse.

The 45-year-old singer-actor arrived in Qingdao on July 23 to continue his Evolution Nic Live China concert tour, with his next show set for Saturday (July 25).

According to China Press, Tse decided to proceed with the scheduled concert to honour his father's work ethic.

In a tribute following his father's death, Tse shared that Patrick had always believed in the saying, "the show must go on", and that continuing his performances was his way of carrying out that belief.

Patrick, affectionately known as "Sei Gor" (Fourth Brother), died on July 16 at the age of 89 after battling pneumonia.

He was cremated on the morning of July 21, with the family reportedly holding a simple ceremony at the hospital mortuary instead of a traditional funeral parlour wake, in accordance with Patrick's wish for a low-key funeral.

Dimsum Daily reported that July 22 marked the traditional seventh day after his passing, when relatives gathered at his residence to pay their respects in private.

Only after completing these observances did Tse depart for Qingdao to prepare for his concert.

According to Oriental Daily, Tse was originally scheduled to arrive in Qingdao on a private jet on July 23, but made a last-minute change and travelled on a commercial flight instead, accompanied by his music team.

Photos and videos shared online showed Tse arriving at Qingdao airport dressed in an all-black outfit, where he was escorted by a VIP lounge guide.

Cutting a solemn figure, Tse kept a low profile as he made his way through the airport.

Following news that the concert would go ahead as scheduled, many netizens called on concertgoers to wear black or simple attire as a gesture of respect for the late actor.
