Hong Kong singer-actor Kenny Bee is grieving the loss of his mother, who has passed away peacefully at the age of 101.

An obituary posted by Bee revealed that she died on June 1 at a hospital in San Francisco, the United States, with her son and other family members by her side.

In a Weibo post on June 7, Bee said while many may view the passing of an elderly person who lived a full and healthy life as a blessing, he still found it hard to come to terms with the loss.

"Even though I know my mother has lived a long and peaceful life, my heart is still filled with grief, and I can't easily force a smile," the 73-year-old wrote.

To cope with his sorrow, Bee said he has chosen to immerse himself in work and keep his mind occupied with daily tasks.

The singer added that moving forward, he will carry with him all the life lessons his mother had taught him.

"I will remember her teachings, live earnestly and live well, so as not to fail her deep kindness in raising me," he wrote, before signing off his post with the words, "mourning in tears".
