Sarawak-born Badron Munirah made the bold move to Kuala Lumpur in 2023 with just RM200 in his pocket to pursue an acting career.
But no matter how busy work gets, returning home for Hari Raya remains non-negotiable for him.
This year is no different for the 26-year-old, who stars in the serialised video series I Love You So Mochi.
“Going back to Mukah for Hari Raya is a must,” says Badron, who is better known as Mun.
“This year I might have to cut the celebration at home a little short because I still have some work commitments waiting in Kuala Lumpur.”
When it comes to festive food, Mun says Raya dishes in Sarawak are not too different from those in Kuala Lumpur – with one notable exception.
“There’s lemang and ketupat, just like here. But if you visit houses in Sarawak, there’s one obvious addition – Laksa Sarawak.”

According to him, every household has its own version of the dish.
“Each family tweaks the recipe to suit their own taste. For me, the laksa has to be thick and spicy because I love spicy food.”
Fortunately, he does not have to wait until Hari Raya to enjoy it. Mun says he is quite skilled at cooking Laksa Sarawak himself.
“Since I was young, I’ve helped my mum in the kitchen. That’s why I can cook,” he says.
Before venturing into acting, Mun first built a following as a content creator – something he says never truly stops, even during festive celebrations.
“As a content creator, you always have to be ready to find content at the right moment.
“Even during Raya, if an idea suddenly comes to mind, I’ll just do it on the spot,” he says.
“For example, when I visit people’s houses and notice little quirks or behaviours that everyone can relate to, I might turn that into content,” he adds.
Still, Mun is careful about what he shares online, especially when it comes to his personal life.
“I don’t really share things related to my family or relationships because you never know what people on social media may say or do,” he explains.
“So if possible, I try to reduce the risk of anything that could bring negativity to myself if I post it on social media.”
