PETALING: ARMYs beware, fake BTS concert tickets have been making its rounds, Bukit Aman says.
In a statement on Tuesday (June 9), Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the department had detected scammers and crime syndicates offering bogus tickets.
"Monitoring conducted has found that scammers are using online platforms to offer 'concert tickets', particularly for the VIP, Soundcheck, and Priority Access categories.
"The identified modus operandi includes offering tickets before the official sales or pre-sale period, claiming to have insider access or special quotas, using fake screenshots as proof of booking.
Victims are directed to make immediate payments through bank transfers, DuitNow, or QR codes supposedly to 'secure’ ticket reservations.
After payment is made, victims either do not receive the promised tickets or the suspects become unreachable.
A total of 41 cases involving fraudulent BTS concert ticket sales have been recorded, with overall losses amounting to RM95,974.81,” he said.
He added that the department was concerned on the risk of victims falling prey to these scammers due to the high demand for tickets.
Comm Rusdi urged all to only deal through official channels as announced by the concert’s organiser and to not fall prey to claims of internal quotas.
“The CCID will continue monitoring scam related to entertainment event ticket sales and will take appropriate action against any parties involved in fraudulent activities.
"The public is advised to remain cautious and avoid making rushed decisions that could lead to financial losses,” he said.
