Hong Kong actress Angie Chiu, who celebrated her 71st birthday in November, remains one of the most beloved figures in the industry.
Emerging third runner-up in the 1973 Miss Hong Kong pageant, she entered showbiz in 1975 and quickly rose to become one of TVB’s famed “Four Actresses”, alongside Gigi Wong, Louise Lee and Liza Wang.
But her enduring popularity appears to have drawn the wrong kind of attention.
Reports surfaced recently that an obsessive fan forced entry into her hotel room.
Taiwanese media said the incident occurred while a housekeeper was cleaning the room, leaving the door slightly ajar.
According to reports, the intruder lay on Chiu’s bed and even sniffed her pillow, allegedly commenting on its scent.
Shockingly, the person posted this behaviour on social media, triggering widespread outrage and condemnation for the blatant violation of the actresses's privacy.
Although the clip was later deleted, the term “Angie Chiu hotel stalker” quickly began trending on Weibo.
Daily Dimsum reported that many netizens urged the hotel to tighten its security measures.
The article also highlighted comments reminding fans to support celebrities respectfully, stressing that admiration should never cross into behaviour that causes fear, distress or harm.
