Hong Kong-based Malaysian actress Jacquelin Ch'ng made headlines last month after announcing her marriage to senior police inspector Matthew Wong, who's 10 years her junior.

The couple tied the knot in Bali after dating for more than one and a half years.

In a recent interview with Hong Kong media, Ch'ng, 45, revealed that she didn't sign a marriage certificate with Wong, believing it wasn't necessary.

"I think a marriage certificate is not important. It's better for the both of us this way. We only held a wedding party to notify friends," she said.

The TVB star added that she had previously signed a marriage certificate with her ex-husband, Taiwanese businessman Brian Yang, to whom she was married from 2020 to 2022.

"The divorce process was very time-consuming. I've seen many couples end up in court because they didn't separate properly," she said.

When asked whether her decision not to sign a marriage certificate was influenced by past trauma, Ch'ng responded in the negative.

"It's just that there's no need to make things too complicated. We don't plan to have children either," she added.

The actress also shared that she remains on good terms with her ex-husband, who graciously sent his congratulations to Ch'ng and her new lover.
