Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh takes a reflective look at her decades-long acting career in a video interview with Vanity Fair, saying it all began “by accident.”

Looking striking with blonde hair and dressed in a brown suit, the Oscar-winning actress spoke extensively about the “crazy stunts” she performed in Police Story 3: Supercop, which was filmed primarily in Kuala Lumpur.

Among the films she discussed, Yeoh said Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon holds a particularly special place in her heart. She revealed that she waited two years for director Ang Lee to begin filming.

“It was one of the most painful movies to make,” she recalled, explaining that she had undergone surgery at the start of production. During her first action sequence – running across rooftops – she landed hard and felt excruciating pain in her knee.

Yeoh had torn her ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and had to be flown to the United States for surgery. She later returned to the set to film non-action scenes while recovering.

Yeoh also revisited memories from Memoirs Of A Geisha, Crazy Rich Asians and Everything Everywhere All At Once. She ended the interview speaking on Wicked films.
