Popular Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh is once again turning heads with her performance in the ongoing TVB legal drama Themis, where she plays a juvenile court judge focused on rehabilitating young offenders.

The series also stars Patrick Tam, Alice Chan and Kalok Chow.

To promote the drama series, Sheh recently appeared on TVB talk show Weekly Stars with co-star Tam.

China Press reported that the two not only talked about the TV show, but they answered questions from fellow actors such as Annie Man who asked about Sheh's slim figure despite being a foodie.

Sheh laughed and said that she doesn't really gain weight even if she eats a lot. "And I have to have a late night snack!"

She described going without late-night supper as “dietary hell” as she'd have intense cravings in the daytime.

When Sheh revealed her most indulgent supper – baked pork chop rice – Tam quipped: “Can I borrow some (of your) DNA?”

In the end, Sheh conceded that her physique may be the result of pushing her body to extremes for work.

One example was filming Beyond The Realm Of Conscience, the 2009 period drama that left her battling insomnia for six months due to intense pressure.

Even after filming wrapped, the stress lingered.

She later sought traditional Chinese traditonal medicine treatment, where her condition was likened to “a sports car stuck in turbo mode that can’t slow down”.

During the interview, Themis leading man Tam also praised Sheh's acting chops, especially her emotional scenes.

“She can cry on cue down to the exact second,” he said, noting that she would even clarify which line required tears – and whether they should fall from her left or right eye first.

With that kind of skill set, it’s no wonder Sheh holds the record for the most Best Actress wins at the TVB Anniversary Awards, with four to her name as of January 2026.
