Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his condolences over the passing of Indian music legend Asha Bhosle, describing it as a great loss to the world of arts and culture.

In a Facebook post, he described Asha as an artistic figure who united emotion, tradition and history through thousands of works across generations, with a unique voice rich in soul and energy that brought life to the silver screen and dramas that touched millions of fans worldwide.

"As the younger sister of Lata Mangeshkar, she upheld a remarkable family legacy in the cultural heritage of South Asia while carving her own artistic leadership path with a distinctive style, boldly experimenting, going beyond the ordinary, never mediocre, and remaining relevant amid ever-evolving times and expressions,” the post read.

Anwar also conveyed his condolences to the late singer’s family and to art lovers everywhere, expressing hope that Asha’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations in enriching the world of music and culture.
