The iconic 1990s girl group, Elite, lit up the stage with a high-energy comeback at the Elite Live’25 concert on Saturday night at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

More than 2,000 fans filled the hall, cheering loudly as the five original members of the group Azza Zawari, Sasha Saidin, Abby Abadi, Linda Rafar and Watie Sadali reunited on stage, captivating the audience with their  electrifying performance.

Elite opened the show with a medley of La Diva, Merbahaya and Aku Siapa Kau Di Apa before Linda greeted the audience with "Apa khabar Malaysia”, drawing thunderous applause from fans.

Watie jokingly remarked that just the first three songs had already left them breathless. Abby, meanwhile, pushed herself to perform despite being unwell, displaying the group’s commitment to entertaining their fans.

Watie, who is married to popular comedian Joey Daud, described the concert as a long-held dream finally fulfilled, never expecting the chance to perform again on such a grand scale.

"Thank you for continuing to support us. Some even came from Singapore and Brunei, and we truly appreciate it. After more than 20 years apart, our dream to reunite on stage has finally come true.

"Everyone knows we’ve been busy with our own lives. Shasha now lives in Dubai, Azza runs a cake business, Linda is with her family, while Abby is active on TikTok with her daily live sessions every morning. So it’s truly an extraordinary feeling to come together again on stage,” she said.

The audience was entertained by the performers’ casual antics and spontaneous banter, much like a group of "aunties” gossiping among themselves, punctuated with laughter and cheers.

Elite performed 15 songs in total, including its timeless hits such as G.I.G, Trauma, Tamparan Wanita and Bila.

The concert grew even more exciting when the group Alpha made a special appearance to duet with Elite on Di Pintu Syurga, before performing its own hits Mona Lisa and P. Ramlee & Saloma.

X-Factor also made a special appearance, performing Bertuah and 7251364

The concert also revisited old memories when Elite sang Catwalk from its debut album, as well as Selamat Tinggal Teman, which was recorded before Abby left the group in 1999.

Elite closed the show with Manisnya Senyumanmu, bringing back memories of its golden era as one of the most influential girl groups of the 1990s. – Bernama
