Hong Kong singer-actress Niki Chow has opened up about her stance on relationships.

In a recent talk show interview, the 46-year-old revealed that she has never tried to stay friends with an ex and doesn’t believe in doing so.

“I don’t think it’s possible or even necessary. He wasn’t a friend to begin with. What you do with a boyfriend is different from what you do with a friend,” she said.

The former TVB star added that she prefers moving forward and focusing on new beginnings instead of holding on to the past.

“A breakup doesn’t make you enemies, but there’s really no need to stay in touch.

“If he had certain bad habits, those same habits would surface again even if we stayed friends. There’s no point in putting myself through that twice,” she said.

According to Oriental Daily, Chow was famously rumoured to be dating Hong Kong-American actor Kevin Cheng back in the early 2000s.

The pair captivated fans with their on-screen chemistry in TVB dramas such as Hard Fate (2004), Under The Canopy Of Love (2006) and The Seventh Day (2008).

Reports suggest the duo had an underground relationship for four years and split after Cheng, 56, allegedly fell for renowned actress Charmaine Sheh.

While Cheng and Chow never officially confirmed their romance, they were regarded as a “golden couple”.

Today, Cheng is happily married to former Miss Hong Kong Grace Chan, with whom he shares three sons.

Meanwhile, Chow tied the knot with Chinese actor Fu Chengpeng in 2018, and they have a son together.
