Chinese actress Yidan Xia has been confirmed dead – nearly two years after her passing. She was 24 in 2023.

The news has come as a shock to fans of the actress, who starred in the dramas The Legendary Doctor Lu and The Demon Hunters Romance

Her death came to light when the final episode of The Demon Hunters Romance aired on April 25.

In the credits, her name was framed with a border, said to be a traditional symbol used to indicate that an actor has passed away.

According to a report by Indonesian portal kompas.com, the drama began filming in June 2022.

At the time, Xia posted a photo from the set on social media, captioned: "A new role challenge, please give me your advice."

Following the recent broadcast, Chinese netizens dug deeper and discovered that Xia had actually passed away in August 2023.

A friend had shared the sad news on Weibo, while a director who had worked with her wrote a tribute, saying "My heroine has left for another world", describing Xia as a hardworking cast member.

Another close friend also shared a post on the first anniversary of her death.

Although the cause of her death has not been confirmed, kompas.com wrote that it may have been due to a car accident. Her family, however, has remained silent on the matter.
