Hong Kong star Casper Chan has left behind the glitz and glamour of the entertainment scene, embracing a more modest life as a hawker instead.

She recently revealed on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, that she’s following in the footsteps of former actor Vin Choi and setting up her own stall to sell chicken feet.

The 42-year-old made it clear that she isn’t concerned about how others perceive her, saying: “I’m here to learn how to set up a stall. I want to be the queen of chicken feet!”

Chan’s announcement was met with support from netizens, with many praising the former TVB actress for her bold career shift.

“I admire some Hong Kong celebrities for their ability to let go and move on,” said one fan.

“Nothing to be embarrassed about. This is just a normal person,” another added.

Chan joined show business in 2001 after competing in the Miss Hong Kong beauty pageant.

Over the years, she has starred in a variety of TVB dramas such as Virtues Of Harmony II (2003), Wars Of In-Laws (2005), 7 Days In Life (2011) and more.

Her last credited role was in the 2015 series Beyond The Rainbow, after which she stepped away from acting.

In a previous interview, Chan revealed that she left the entertainment industry as landing roles had become increasingly difficult for her after turning 30.

The former actress said at the time that she struggled to find substantial work despite her experience, prompting her to explore other career options.

It’s reported that Chan had previously worked as a holistic therapist.
