Madam Huang Chun-mei has expressed her grief on social media over the death of her daughter, Taiwanese actress and TV host Barbie Hsu.
Hsu, also known by her stage name Big S, died at the age of 48 on Feb 2 after she came down with influenza-related pneumonia while on vacation with her family in Japan.
“There is a hole in my heart. How can I fill it up?” Madam Huang wrote in Chinese on Facebook early on Feb 12.
She had earlier broken her silence when she wrote on the social media platform close to midnight on Feb 10: “I left sadness to myself.”
I Left Sadness To Myself (1991) is among the hit songs of Taiwanese veteran singer Bobby Chen Sheng.
Madam Huang had commented under her post: “I fell in love with this song for no reason. It was written for me a long time ago.”
Many netizens commented under her post, expressing their condolences and urging her to take care of her health. She responded by liking their comments.
Madam Huang then shared the music videos of I Left Sadness To Myself thrice in less than an hour on Facebook, with no further comments.
She has an elder daughter Hsu Shi-hsien, 50, who is not in the entertainment industry, and a younger daughter, Taiwanese TV host Dee Hsu, 46.
Dee Hsu had posted on social media for the first time after her sister’s death at about midnight on Feb 9, sharing an uncaptioned photo of a bow hairpin.
Several netizens speculated that it could be a mourning pin, a traditional funeral item in South Korea, as Barbie Hsu was married to South Korean musician Koo Jun-yup, 55. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
