Taiwanese TV host Dee Hsu has posted on social media for the first time since her elder sister, Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, died of pneumonia at the age of 48 on Feb 2.
Dee Hsu, 46, posted on Instagram Stories at about midnight on Feb 9 a photo of a bow hairpin that was likely her sister’s. There was no caption.
Taiwan’s Next Apple News reported on Feb 9 that Barbie Hsu’s family members – such as her mother Huang Chun-mei; Dee Hsu; Dee Hsu’s husband, businessman Mike Hsu – and friends, such as Taiwanese TV host Aya Liu and singer-TV host Makiyo, gathered at her home to remember her on Feb 8, the seventh day of her death.
The group left her home on Feb 8 from 4.30pm, and Dee Hsu’s car was later seen picking up her second daughter Lily. According to Next Apple News, Lily was seen carrying a transparent bag holding items such as socks and a bow hairpin, similar to the one shared by Dee Hsu on social media later.
The late Barbie Hsu was also known as Big S and best known for her role as the feisty Shancai in the hit Taiwanese idol drama Meteor Garden (2001 to 2002).
Dee Hsu’s talk show Dee Girl’s Talk announced on Feb 7 that she will be taking six months’ leave to cope with her sister’s death. The show added that Taiwanese TV host Sandy Wu, daughter of Taiwanese TV host Jacky Wu, has agreed to take over hosting duties during this period.
Feb 8 was also the third wedding anniversary of Barbie Hsu and her husband, South Korean musician DJ Koo, who registered their marriage in South Korea on Feb 8, 2022. They registered their marriage in Taiwan on March 28, 2022.
Koo, 55, whose full name is Koo Jun-yup, marked the anniversary on Feb 8 with the Korean words “Love you forever” and tagged Barbie Hsu’s Instagram account in the post.
