Rising Chinese actor Liang Youcheng has passed away on Jan 30 at the age of 27, reportedly from flu complications.

His sudden passing comes as the entertainment world is still reeling from the loss of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, who succumbed to influenza-related pneumonia.

According to Chinese media, Liang first exhibited mild symptoms and was diagnosed with a common cold. However, his condition rapidly worsened, leading to infections of the central nervous system (CNS).

Despite emergency treatment, he passed away in the hospital on the second day of Chinese New Year.

Reports indicate that no family members were present at the hospital with him.

Liang appeared in dramas such as Echo Of Her Voice (2024) and My Heart (2021), and was set to star in the upcoming series It Girl In Tang Dynasty.

Another report revealed that Liang’s last message was to his mother, on Chinese New Year's eve, when he gifted her an e-ang pow of 888 yuan (RM540) and mentioned that it was from his production team.

Netizens speculate that the actor's death might have been caused by complications from Type A influenza, like Hsu, though this has yet to be officially confirmed.

His passing has drawn renewed attention to the potential dangers of influenza and its severe complications.
