Hong Kong actress Dada Chan has lost a deposit exceeding HK$1.6mil (RM917,545) after backing out of a luxury penthouse purchase in Tai Kok Tsui.

According to HK01, the three-bedroom unit was originally on sale via tender for HK$22.88mil (RM13.1mil) in July 2022, with a price tag of HK$32,826 (RM18,824) per sq ft.

However, Chan recently backed out of the deal and forfeited over HK$1.6mil in deposit fees.

Dimsum Daily reported that the penthouse has a usable area of 697 sq ft, along with a 213 square ft terrace and a 106 sq ft platform.

The portal added that Chan was drawn to the property for its stunning views of Victoria Harbour and quickly proceeded with the purchase.

Chan kickstarted her career as a model in 2007 and made her acting debut that following year with the film Besieged City.

She is best known for her performance in the 2012 comedy movie Vulgaria, for which she won Best Supporting Actress at the 32nd Hong Kong Film Awards.

Other shows Chan has starred in include Z Storm (2014), 12 Golden Ducks (2015) and Missbehavior (2019), among others.
